Brighthandle Lighting Bathroom Handles
10 April 2008“Making Sure the Bathroom’s Free”
Knock, knock!
Uh, uh, I know what you’re thinking. Has she been in there six minutes or only five? ‘Cause when you gotta go this bad, it just feels like forever. Or did she vacate the bathroom altogether a couple of minutes ago when we had all those people milling around this end of the house? Well, to tell you the truth, in all the confusion of the party now going on, I kind of lost track of her comings and goings. But being as she is the wife of your husband’s boss, and is a prissy little fuss budget who’s going to absolutely have a cow if you “barge in” on her while she’s doing her business, you’ve got to ask yourself a question: Do I feel lucky? Well, do ya, lady?
Oops! Sorry about that!!!
We’ve all had that feeling, right? Worse, a few of us have even suffered an “indiscretion.” Actually, I don’t which is worse, to catch someone with his pants down, or to be caught with your own pants around your ankles. And, face it, you never really manage to walk in on someone you might, at some level, enjoy walking in on. No, it’s always some old crow who can’t do anything but squawk!
Well, now those days are over, because there’s a company called, appropriately enough, Brighthandle that has come up with a solution that is more than clever. It’s brilliant.
When the bathroom is vacant, the handle is unlighted for the battery powered versions and continuously green for the hardwired versions.
Stop On Red!
When the bathroom is occupied, a simple thumb turn activates a red light on the door handle. The battery powered versions run on two AA batteries.
Currently Brighthandle makes three lighted handles - the Alfa (top), the Dot (right) and the Line (below).
It’s a European-made product, as are so many of the cutting-edge products these days, but it is now available in the United States as well.
If you’ve had enough of those embarrassing little moments—or even just the awkwardness of a discrete knock followed by an even more discrete cough from inside the bathroom—this might be the product for you. Then all of your guests will feel lucky.
