BAINULTRA HOME SPAS

“My Body Rest”
I’m not sure that those who do not have a spa realize what a decided addition a spa is to just about anyone’s home. From the outside looking in, the question must surely be, “what in the world is it that people find so therapeutic about a body of water?” And I suppose a body can go with that thinking until such time as he actually brings home a spa and puts that rascal to use, at which time, like Madeline Kahn in Young Frankenstein, I think he will find himself singing, “Ah, sweet mystery of life, at last I’ve found you!”
On a personal note I will tell you that we elected to have our spa outdoors, and I made an elaborate spa shelter for it—really, it’s a separate building altogether—a task that took me one solid year, because I’m a cabinetmaker, not a carpenter, and I worked alone for the most part. There were times when I wanted to put a match to the damned thing, but since I finished it some years ago, it has been nothing but peaches and cream. If I had it to do over—and knew absolutely that it would take twice as long and be three times as difficult—by golly, I would! It’s the place we go to for relief from aching muscles, but that’s just the beginning of what a spa can do for you. In the summer, we fill it with cold water, and it’s a private pool with water that is CLEAN, because it’s not been outside in a pool under a tree or had the flippin’ dog splashing through it! And at any time, for those who are couples, there just is no more intimate, relaxing place to go to and simply let the world and its insanities pass on by. But I digress.
I really wanted to introduce you to the Tekura ThermoMasseur Bath from BainUltra, which, on balance, is exactly the type of spa I wish I had for several reasons. First, it’s indoors, which means that I wouldn’t have had to spend so much of my life building a spa cover for it. But also, because it’s indoors, I believe it will get even more use. Unfortunately, our bathrooms are what they are—minuscule—so we move on. For those with the room for it, though, I do believe a spa like this one makes a heck of a lot of sense.
BaniUltra has an entire line of spas, but I do think they’ve outdone themselves with the Tekura ThermoMasseur Bath. It’s hard to see them in these pictures, but there are actually a total of 41 thermo-massage jets, so you’re pretty much guaranteed an “Ahhhhh” moment when you fire those babies up. There is also a choice of five different contours and a “MyBodyRest” accessory set.
So, what does “MyBodyRest” do, you ask, besides driving my spell check nuts? Well, actually it’s BainUltra’s name for a set consisting of headrest, armrest, and leg rests which have been especially designed to complement the shape of the tub and ensure maximum comfort to the user. You can even put headrests on either end of the tub to accommodate two bathers. They’re made from Cabreuva wood (shown here) or Acrystal, and once you install them in the tub, fill it with hot water, and fire up the jets, you find yourself moaning “MyBodyRest” in a sort of ecstasy.
