Honeymoon Luxury Gazebos

“The Sixth Deadly Sin”
One of my favorite movies is “Barefoot in the Park” for more reasons than I’m going to go into here—mostly, just that it’s funny and charming. But I bring it up because it began with the newlyweds spending a week in a hotel, after which the new husband left to go to the office. Watching Jane Fonda as she wrapped herself around that hotel
room door as Robert Redford left, I found myself wondering how he could bring himself to actually leave that room and begin making a living for them. Why not just keep on ordering room service until they died of sheer bliss?
I bring that up because I seem to have stumbled upon a high-octane version of that hotel with a gorgeous woman fantasy. HONEYMOON is a fairly new French-based company that makes—well, I was going to say outdoor day beds and gazebos, but it’s really more like private backyard paradises that really are paradises. I mean, really now, I describe our yard that way—backyard paradise—but if that is an accurate description, then I guess the better description for what HONEYMOON is making is hedonistic interlude or Buddy-I-ain’t-never-going-back-to-work. Actually honeymoon in capital letters, which is how they prefer it, probably is the best description for their product. Because that’s what it is, a HONEYMOON that you can go on whenever the spirit moves you.
HONEYMOON does make traditional gazebos, but they started with their outdoor beds, and that first produc
t (there’s one at the top of this blog) has flavored everything they’ve made since then. No, let’s go one better. The picture at the top of this blog is either the item itself, or a close facsimile of that first bed. It’s still in service today on a private property overlooking the ocean in Saint Tropez, France. Only a handful of lucky so-and- sos is going to be able to do that, of course, but it is still possible for the rest of us to transport a part of that paradise to our own backyards.
That first bed was called the Honeymoon, which became the name of the company itself. It’s made of solid teakwood, and the roofing is made of a waterproof marine canvas, as are the cushions and mattress. They’ve even provided a large protective cover for the winter months.
In addition to the outdoor beds, HONEYMOON now makes a number of gazebos which range in size from the intimate to those capable of hosting a party. And like the outdoor beds that inspired them, they have an otherworldliness to them that brings the exotic to wherever you live.
I know I shouldn’t find myself hating the people who end up doing business with a company like HONEYMOON. After all, I might even be the person who made the introductions, but still…
My friends sometimes ask me how I am able to keep on coming up with five blogs a week. Actually, the question to ask is how I am able to keep on doing this without melting into a pool of pure envy.
