“Light up Your Life!”
What interests me most about glass art is really just glass art. It is an absolutely glorious medium in which to work, and it probably represents one of my more profound regrets in life, namely that I never saw the possibilities in the medium until it was much too late in my own life to pursue it. In the right hands it is possible to do just about anything with glass. In fact it is possible to do things that are hard to believe can even be done with glass. It is also possible for the you and me in this world to use these wonderful art designs in glass to bring a wonderful decorating flair to our homes.
And with that, I have introduced Renato Foti, who actually began his career as a painter, but after an introduction to glass as a sculptural material in 1992, turned to glass as his primary means of expression. And his expression can be yours as well. Mr. Foti has a full range of products in glass, but what particularly caught my eye was his creations for lighting, specifically sconces and entry way lights.
I have many times talked about the magic that can be a bathroom, and something like the sconces Mr. Foti has created would add an exotic air of magic to any bathroom, but especially, I think, a guest bathroom that seems too small. Sconces as gorgeous as these would do much to add a note of intrigue to such a room. These sconces would also add a touch of movie magic to a home theater, especially if you use a dimmer switch.
The other item, for those with the space for it—perhaps a stairway or high-ceilinged entryway—are the lights that top this blog. Because these are custom made, they can be any color or length that suits your needs. The hardware is brushed aluminum, although several anodized colors are available.
And what is particularly wonderful about these items is that they’re not just ceiling lights and sconces. They’re works of art. Each piece is hand cut, fused, ground, slumped and signed. And, like any work of art, they bring an incredible joy to any home in which they reside. They do more than light up the room; they light up your life.
