Dacor Epicure OBS52 52" Built-in Gas Grill

“All Night”
The Dacor Epicure 52″ Built-in Gas Grill is one of the best-named products that absolutely ever was! We are so accustomed to seeing words like “Exxon” that really don’t mean anything that we sometimes forget that less frequently used words like epicure are actually honest-to-goodness words with definitions. In this case “epicure” is used to describe someone who has developed a refined taste for food or a person who loves sensual pleasure and luxury. And just speaking for myself, I can’t think of anything more sensual than some barbecue and a cold one! And the luxury… well, hey, the Epicure Barbecue we’ve shown here is manufactured by Dacor, so that pretty much says it all.
Dacor has, because they’ve earned it, a wonderful reputation in the household appliance field. But they have also put together a number of ideas and concepts for backyard kitchens, because more and more, the things that happen in the backyard are much more than “a dog and a beer,” so they require quite a bit to bring them into being. A few weeks ago, still smacking my lips, I wrote about one of my wife’s friends who put together a barbecue that was made up entirely of anything and everything but the burgers and dogs I was expecting. But the way she cooked it all made it some of the most glorious barbecues I believe I have ever had—and I still got my cold one, so what’s not to like! But I digress. Or maybe not. We’re talking epicurean delights now, made this time on an Epicure Barbecue—I told you that baby is well-named!
Just as they did with their indoor kitchen line, Dacor has created this grill to do just about anything a body could want, and do it with a truly astounding degree of precision, “whether you are serving filet mignon or peppercorn-crusted salmon.” Not only that, this bad boy is huge. It’s 52″ wide and cranks out a total of 109,000 BTU, including two 20,000 BTU “U” Shaped Burners, Sear Burner, Infrared Rotisserie System, and two 16″ Integrated Side Burners. And if you’re as tired as I am of cleaning grates, you have to love the easy-to-clean porcelain grates that are standard.
We have shown the Epicure Outdoor Grill as both a built-in grill and atop a cart, as both versions are available from Dacor. For those who would prefer the cart, they will surely find that it is “the perfect complement to the Outdoor Grill. It includes convenient drawers and shelving, as well as easy access for Natural Gas hookup.” In addition, the OBCW52 model has an outdoor warming drawer to keep pre-cooked food nice and piping hot. And the Epicure may be had in a Natural Gas or LP Gas version.
But in addition to the many delights and features of the barbecue itself, is the way it is manufactured. If you have a “stainless steel” barbecue that is rusting, you know what I’m talking about. It seems you can call anything “stainless steel” these days, and if you’ve not checked the thickness of it, you may well be in for a surprise after the winter’s over and the cover comes off. Dacor, by way of contrast, builds theirs of 18 gauge stainless steel. And did I mention the Halogen Lights and Illumina Burner Controls? It means you can party all night long!
