Levitiles Glass Tile 1

“Endless Love”

Levitiles Glass Tile 4 I’ve written about tile for this site before because I find it so interesting as a design medium for one’s home. Truthfully, before I got into writing about things for the home, all I really knew was ceramic tile, some of which was painted. And although painted tile has some exciting possibilities that I have written about in previous blogs, it really just scratches the surface of what can be done with tile. Start with the materials, because you’re not relegated to only ceramic tile. You can make it of slate or, as in the case of today’s subject, glass. And glass tile is almost an entire world of design all unto itself.

Really, it’s because of the innovation that exists in Europe, especially in Italy, although other countries are beginning to leap into the fray—and doing so quite nicely, I might add. But every time I write about a particular tile, I find myself thinking that the subject is now exhausted, because the current blog is on a tile so innovative that no one will ever be able to top it.

Well, sir! I’m back again because I’ve found a glorious tile again.

Levitiles Glass Tile 5 Levitiles is an Italian company that is manufacturing glass tile that can only be described as stunning. They have designed their products for architects and interior designers, but the utter glory of what they have done here is such that it is difficult to believe their output will forever be relegated to such a small group. Really, it’s the sort of product you want to spread as far as possible, like a modern Johnny Appleseed.

The Metalli, or Metals, line emphasizes the aesthetic qualities of metals such as silver, gold and copper. According to the manufacturer, this range is particularly well-suited to large modern spaces in areas where you’re looking to provide a lot of “pop” to the room décor.

Levitiles Glass Tile 8 The Pietre Preziose, or Precious Stones, is so-called because of its rich monochrome jewel-like colors. The play of light on these tiles creates a wonderful display that makes just about any room come to life in marvelous ways.

The Rilievi, or Reliefs, has a textured surface that creates all kinds of wonderful displays with reflected light, and does it with glorious, translucent glass tiles.

Finally, Panelli is a series of four tile abstract paintings that are representative of the four seasons. For those with the courage for such bold design motifs, these panels are 46″x85″, which would take up a fair amount of wall space, but it lends itself to all kinds of wonderful design statements. We show only Spring here because of our space restrictions, but all four of the designs make a spectacular artistic statement that is definitely not kitsch.

So, what’s the next innovation in tile? I can’t wait. But for now there is Levitiles and their wonderful innovations for a medium that, more and more, strikes me as endless. Ya gotta love that!

Hello, I am interested in the Pietre Preziose Ocra. Do you have a U.S. supplier? Or can you send me a sample?

    Thank you.

We do not sell any of the items we write about. We simply inform the public of what is available. There are hyperlinks in the blog and in the photos we posted. If you click on these, they will take you to the company’s website, and you can direct your questions to them.
