Kohler Gold Bathroom Faucets

“To Boldly Go”
Kohler’s Purist bathroom faucets in Vibrant Moderne Gold just have to be the slickest faucets anyone’s ever designed. Kohler vowed to approach “the undeniable, romantic allure of gold in an entirely new way,” and by gosh they have. I’ve seen gold faucets before, but it’s always been in traditional forms. Make that stodgy, traditional forms in a stodgy, traditional bathroom with very little in the way of imagination and nothing at all in the way of something new. Well, sir! Kohler has kicked the bejabbers out of that particular syndrome!
I’ve been writing these blogs for a heck of a long time now, but I keep telling my wife and my partner that I can pretty much bang them out forevermore, because there are all these people out there who keep on keeping on making new products and new designs and new concepts. And the field of imagination itself is something that I find endlessly fascinating, because whenever you enter into the realm of design, you find things you never knew existed, or at least I do. Today’s subject matter is very much a case in point.
Actually, much more than a bold look, what this gold faucet is, is the lap of luxury, because really now, a bathroom with gold fixtures? It just doesn’t get any better than that, right? Well, really, it does, because this particular line of gold bathroom faucets is meant to compliment their Purist line of bathroom designs, which is a tale all onto itself.
But for the moment there are the gold fixtures that I would like to talk about. On their website Kohler points out that “gold is the universal standard of excellence for which we all strive,” which it is, of course. But using it in a bathroom evokes such images of incredible opulence. The fixtures themselves offer a choice of brushed gold and polished gold, both of which overlay a solid brass fixture, so you know they’re built to last for a lifetime. Of course a bathroom faucet, no matter how opulent, is just a faucet unless it’s in a sink in a vanity in a room that blows your mind as much as this faucet blows mine! And that, in turn, brings us to the bathroom suite Kohler was thinking about when they came up with these faucets.
As a matter of fact, there is really too much to cover in one blog, so next week I’ll come back to the subject with a second blog on the Purist line. However, I do want to show you a little of what we will be talking about next week, so I did want to include this picture of the Purist Suite. Note, now, that I did not say Puritan. And what is the difference between a Puritan and a purist? Well, I don’t remember the Pilgrims washing up at a gold sink on the occasion of that first Thanksgiving!
Well, times have changed since then, but not everyone designing kitchens and bathrooms has made similar changes, which gets us back to Kohler, the bold look of Kohler, as they bill themselves. Kohler has an imagination unfettered by thoughts of doing the same old same old. They are forever looking for something new, something different, something that pushes the envelope. And there’s nothing bolder than that.
