Decorative LED Lighting by Salvini Stile

“Pump It Up”
Speaking of bathrooms, as I mostly have been this week, one of the concepts that is often overlooked is the lighting of the bathroom. Personally, I tend to look for enough lighting for the newspaper—if you get my drift—but, really, when you limit yourself to choices like that, you miss out on a concept that can add so much to the ambience of a bathroom, and especially this is true if you are working to make of your bathroom the retreat from the woes of the world I continue to assert it can be. A bathroom can be, as I think I’ve proven this week, much more than that. It can be a health spa with all of the emphasis on restoring that which has become broken and downtrodden in the abrasiveness that makes up the experiences of so many of us in the workaday world.
One of the most glorious combinations I was ever introduced to as a young man is jazz, candlelight, and wine, and ever since I have been very much alert to the wonderful ambiance that can be created with a single, flickering candle. And in writing these blogs I have come across any number of very clever lighting ideas, several of which we’re going to explore right now with Salvini Stile, an Italian Com
pany that first made its mark in marble and stone cutting.
Salvini Marmi’s concept, though, was to take marble to places it had never been before, and in the tiles and slabs he subsequently made for floors and walls, he did just that. He took what had always been a cold, essentially anonymous material, and made of it a most innovative accessory that brings a glorious—and original—ambience to any project in which his products reside. Not content with that, he has recently turned to lighting, especially LED lighting as the flexibility of this medium allows him—and the end user—to express an entire range of individuality.
LED lighting, as I found out some time ago when I did a number of blogs on the subject, comes in all sizes and shapes. And now, by gosh, one call does all, because Salvini Stile seems to have pretty much run the gauntlet. The Star collection features inset LED lights that give off a twinkle like the stars that gave this
light its name. The Meteors collection can make any wall glow with rows of tiny lights, and just to up the ante a bit, they’re available with optional bright LED RGB color-changing technology to suit every style. The Light Leaks line is made up of decorative LED light strips, available in 12- and 18-inch bands in white, red, blue or amber, thereby allowing the end user to make just about any kind of design with them. Finally, if putting the lighting on the walls is not innovative enough, the Spiral is a Gel insert that can be used on either floors or walls—your choice! Really, it’s an absolutely dazzling array of lighting concepts, which you can explore in depth with a visit to Salvinistile.
Whenever we have company over, my wife likes to light a candle in the bathrooms, to enhance the ambience, she always tells me. With lighting like this, you can just flick a switch. Think of it as ambience on steroids!
