Sharp Microwave Drawer Revisited

Back in May of 2008 Joseph wrote a blog on one of the Sharp Microwave Drawers. Joseph and I finally got a chance to check out one of these units at San Diego Kitchens and Baths. I think Joseph’s original post pretty much sums it up, and it gave me a better feel for why I don’t like these. As Joseph pointed out previously, what the heck are you going to do if this unit breaks down and you can’t get it fixed?
Then there is also the space issue. Take a look at the actual usable space inside this thing. That’s smaller than the little $100 unit I have sitting on my countertop. And there is very limited height. To top it off, looking at the unit in the showroom it also looked to be a pain in the neck to program with the unit below the countertop.
These definitely have a cool factor, but in my opinion they don’t seem practical.
