Toscoquattro Bathroom Designs 4

“Small Packages”

Toscoquattro Bathroom Designs 2 The problem with creating a small bathroom design is not so much the fact that there is no room to put anything, as it is that there is no room to SAY anything. I mean, we know already that the five by nine room so many of us have to work with is not going to accommodate much more than a toilet, sink vanity and combination tub/shower, which is a rather bleak prospect, if, like me, you would like this room to be something unique, something that expresses your personality, your dreams, your aspirations, something that makes an artistic statement. Because as I have so often said, if all you’re going to do is rip out the old appliances and replace them with new that look pretty much like the old—minus the chips and dings, of course—well, really now, what’s the point? Why not just slap a coat of paint on everything and hang new shower curtains?

But I bring up all those bleak thoughts because Toscoquattro has come up with something that would do much to enliven any bathroom in which it resides, even one as small and drab as my own. What they have done is design a mirror quite unlike any other mirror I’ve seen, simply because this mirror is not just an accessory item, there for the wife to put on her makeup and make sure her bra straps aren’t showing.

Toscoquattro Bathroom Designs 3 What they’ve done with the full length bathroom mirror is make it not a luxury but a necessity, because everything you can imagine is on this mirror. Let’s start with the obvious, the collection of boxes on the mirror itself. Actually, these boxes are quite a bit more than that. They are storage areas that have been artfully arranged in a tidy, modular arrangement. And there’s more because several of these “boxes” aren’t boxes at all.

The large centered item is a washbasin with a removable water collection top. Water flows through an innovative faucet of toughened transparent glass that looks like a shelf and to heighten the illusion, Toscoquattro has included a vase atop the shelf! Finally, they have included LED lighting within the glass shelves that abound and overhead lighting at the top of the unit itself.

For those with a home that will accept modern designs (our tract home is out!), something like this might be just the ticket, especially if you’re remodeling a bathroom as small as the cracker boxes I’ve been wrestling with. Sometimes big statements come in small packages.
