Kohler Fountainhead Bathroom Designs

“Great Expectations”
In recent months I have become a real fan of Kohler, but they have really outdone themselves with the Kohler Fountainhead Bathroom Collection. OK, if it’s a little different, I’m all over it; I think I’ve established that with these blogs. So, when I saw this line from Kohler, I was intrigued, just from the way it looks. But choosing a good bathroom is a lot like choosing a wife; you can’t just go for the pretty face! Honest to goodness, when I was still dating my wife, I needed to get a needle and thread for a loose button, and the elderly lady sales clerk advised me to make sure my future wife could sew! But I digress.
To return to Kohler, what they’ve done with the Fountainhead Collection is to create an entire line of bathroom designs, because it’s a sophistication that comes in several sizes and finishes. So what that means is that even people like me with my ridiculously small bathroom would be able to make of that broom closet something rather stylish.
The Kohler Fountainhead Petite Vanity (it’s the small brown one, but you knew that, right!) would, as I said, fit quite nicely into our small bathrooms. But what I like about the piece itself is that it has a nice grace in all of its elements. The horizontal lines are done particularly well, from the top which, because of its underlying groove seems to float, to the widened sink bowl which carries out that horizontal line, to the shelf above it, again, with an accented horizontal line. It is a vanity that is both small and elegant.
Another item that I found especially intriguing is the location of the faucets in this line. Man, when they say Fountainhead, they MEAN Fountainhead! Look where the water is! Right under the cabinet. In fact that’s where it comes out. It’s the sort of thing that adds a lot of “what the heck” to a bathroom, and it also has a practical aspect to it. Maybe it would make sense for me to have a cabinet in front of the sink, or as they show it on the Petite Vanity, a shelf with a mirror. But the problem, as always, is one of room, because in a bathroom as small as the ones we have, space is very much at a premium. Well, with this baby, that particular objection goes away.
And, of course, for those who have a large bathroom (you know, at times I really have to hold on to myself with both hands to avoid saying something derogatory about them-I know, I know, sheer jealousy!), there is the Kohler Fountainhead Dressing Vanity. This is a piece that would add a real touch of elegance to a bathroom, and it does so in a fairly compact presentation which is a nice touch. I like to joke about the big bathrooms, but even those with a larger bathroom rarely have room for much in the way of an involved vanity, which makes, I think, the fairly compact lines of this vanity especially welcome. It has the same compact legs at each end of the vanity, and the counter space intended for milady is neatly integrated into one side of the vanity. And to aid with space constraints, the matching swivel vanity seat has a hole in one side to access the built-in trash container! And, since this is intended for a larger bathroom, the matching wall cabinet with the same type of faucet I described above complements it perfectly.
All in all, it’s a wonderful line of bathroom designs from Kohler, but frankly, I’ve come to expect great things from them.
