“Under Control”

Digifire Smokeless Fireplaces 4 The problem with fireplaces, if you are one of those who would like to have one but doesn’t, is how in the heck are you going to install one in your home. Can it be done? Of course it can. Will it cost quite a bit to achieve it after the fact, as it were? Yes, again. But it can be done. Is it somewhat limiting, though? And that’s another yes. In order to install a fireplace, you have to vent it, which means you have to run a vent pipe/smoke stack up through the roof. Punch a hole in the roof? Go ahead.

And yes, all of this can be done, but it’s a rather daunting task, and the outcome is somewhat uncertain. And, because the logic of it is to use only outside walls, so as to make it easier to install the chimney, that’s what one tends to do. But, man, if they just had a product that a body could move from room to room, kind of Digifire Smokeless Fireplaces 7 like a TV. OK, moving it from room to room might be a bit of a stretch for anything that takes on the appearance of a permanent installation, but if it were at least possible to install something permanent looking wherever one wanted, and to have this done without the necessity of a vent, wouldn’t this be a slick thing to do?

Well, now, as it turns out, that is exactly what they have these days. Digifire is a European company that is making all kinds of fireplaces, from ones that actually can be moved from room to room like a portable TV to those that, though they’re permanent installations, yet have the capability of simply being placed wherever one wants them to be.

Digifire Smokeless Fireplaces 8 Their latest outing in this field is the Orbiter pedestal fireplace which we’ve featured at the top of this blog. This ultra modern fireplace has a stainless steel frame which surrounds the flame at the center, which, in turn, is enclosed by two sheets of tempered glass, both for aesthetics and as a safety feature. And the base and pedestal are made of polished granite for an added touch of luxury, but the best part is the main part, the fact that it’s a smokeless fire that burns ethanol. And because it’s made the way it is, the Orbiter really does go around your home in any setting you choose to select for it. But, wait, there’s more!

Digifire also has two lines of fireplaces that can be made to look like built-ins that came with the house. No gas or flue installation is required; there’s a fully automatic pumping system, and they come with optional glass shields. And all of these fireplaces are remote controlled. You can ignite, regulate and extinguish the flame with a simple push of a button. But you know how that’s going to work out, right ladies? You won’t be able to get that remote out of hubby’s hands either!

I like the Orbiter design. I will have to check out their web site and see what else they offer.
