“Follow Your Bliss”

Vetrocolor Glass Tile 2 One of the things people at a certain age (that would be me!) find themselves contemplating is the ages of man, especially if the man doing the contemplating is aged! I bring that up, though, because I once read that the surest way to stay young in heart is to never lose a child’s sense of wonder. Well, sir!

All I can say is that the person who came up with that quote could have proved the truth of it to a fare-thee-well by writing these blogs. This on-going journey through cyberspace has proven to be a never ending journey of discovery in the area of design, especially as it relates to bathroom design, which is, when you think about it, one of the more challenging problems a designer faces. Really, it is very nearly a dilemma because anything you do that is practical tends to be stodgy, but the more innovative you are, the less practical the solution. Or so it would seem to those of us who are, um, creatively challenged!

Vetrocolor Glass Tile 3 Our case in point-and you knew I would eventually come around to it, right?-is the tile from Vetrocolor that is the subject of today’s blog. Looking at some of these tile patterns, I think the first response is something along the lines of “what the heck is this!” because not all of this is immediately recognizable as tile. But, really, the better response is, “what do you want it to be?” because tile like this lends itself to just about any kind of purpose the mind can imagine.

Vetrocolor is an Italian company that has designed some truly wonderful colored glass tiles that can be used in just about any bathroom design imaginable. This collection of contemporary tinted and clear glass tiles is available in a variety of dimensions, and it is suitable for just about any kind of a customizable look on floors and walls in the bathroom. It can also be put to use in the shower and bath surrounds for some truly stunning and innovative looks.

Vetrocolor Glass Tile 4 The Trasparenze glass for bathrooms features a glorious metallic finish that is visible through a layer of thick glass. The end result is a tile that seems to glow, making any space it adorns a real focal point. The other tile we’ve featured here is Vetrocolor’s Preziosi line of colored tiles. This line has a shimmering pearlescent finish that is available in a wide range of cool colors that pretty much guarantees a bathroom so relaxing and rejuvenating that it very much becomes a journey’s end type of environment.

And, yes, I do know that seems like quite a bit to expect of a bathroom design, especially one that occupies a bathroom as small as those most of us have. But the moment something as innovative as these tiles has been put to use in a design scheme, the ordinary becomes extraordinary becomes bliss. And you should always follow your bliss. You never know where it might lead.
