Luxurious Bathroom Designs From Edil-Italy

“More”
You want ornate? Well, man, have we got some ornate for you. I know that nowadays when people think European design, they think minimalism, but, c’mon now, who do you think designed Baroque and Rocco in the first place? My Italian buddies, that’s who. So, if you want something that is both ornate and beautiful, man, have I got some designs for you! These are the kind of designs that can bring an air of opulence to any bathroom that ever was.
Edil-Italy, as its name suggests, is an Italian company that manufactures vanities and other bathroom accruements and melds the whole into some rather ornate bathroom designs. Although stating it like that is a bit like saying Michelangelo sculpted once in a while. Like all cutting-edge Italian designers these days, Edil-Italy has created a wonderful line of m
inimalist designs for both kitchens and baths, but I was particular struck with their more ornate line, both as a change of pace for these blogs, and because not all of my readers are as enamored of the modern as I am.
The one thing these designs have in common with the others I have touted these last two years, though, is the luxury they bring to the bathroom, and that, in the end is really the whole point of a bathroom remodeling-or at least it should be. I have many times said that a remodeling that simply replaces the old with new that looks substantially like the old is no remodeling at all. And face it, folks, most of the bathrooms that came with the house are normally just adequate at best. But think of all the work you have done-and expect to do in your lifetime-to get to where you now are. Aren’t you entitled to a certain degree of luxury? And if you don’t think you are, would you mind sending me a check for whatever you consider excess in your life!
But, seriously, for those who are considering a remodeling-and why else would you be reading these blogs?-the concept of transforming one’s bland, everyday bathroom into a place of unmitigated luxury just has to be high on the list of things to do in this lifetime. And that takes us back to Edil-Italy because these people totally get the idea of luxury.
What I like about these particular bathroom designs is the way they were carried out to the end. They are not just an ornate vanity in an otherwise plain bathroom. The vanity is, as it should be, the focal point of the venture, but the “supporting players” are all there to carry out the theme set forth by the vanity. The other thing I found myself admiring is their use of the minimalist sink motif that I have always found so invigorating, but dressed up this time, as something both simple and ornate, which is an oxymoron-unless it’s put together by a true artist. Then it becomes genius! But the simple sink in chased gold is a truly wonderful concept, and again, the “bit players” complement it perfectly. I have often said, and truly believe, that less is more, because it often is. But more works too.

What a great resource! I’m going to have to look them up. I particularly like the bombe style vanity.

Given the type of work John and his wife do, I’m not surprised that he would favor this line. A few weeks ago I came across his site at Wilson Kelsey (they’re on our blogroll now) and spent a pleasant half hour exploring some wonderful design concepts.
