Wetstyle Bathroom Designs 7 OK, maybe it’s because I spent all week in the shop working on some exciting ideas that I will be sharing with you in a couple of weeks. Hey, is that a tease or what? But, anyway, I have been in the shop all week working with walnut and Honduras mahogany, both of which are just such wonderful woods to work with. Truth to tell, I like every wood I have ever worked with, up to and including the pine that was my wood of choice in the beginning, because I really couldn’t afford the others! But you get in the shop and fire up the surface planer, and pretty soon the smell of that wood goes through the shop like the most exotic of perfumes, and after a bit you begin to saw it and rout it and shape it to your will. Well, as I say, that was my week, so when I saw these bathrooms designs from Wetstyle I was immediately intrigued with what they have done here, starting with the walnut used throughout.

Wetstyle is a Canadian company whose products are currently available in some 140 showrooms across North America and the Caribbean, and they have established a foothold in London, from which they mean to expand their reach to Europe. And they have their sights on the rest of the world! Their new M modular bathroom shows why they have become so popular around the world.

Wetstyle Bathroom Designs 9 One of the things that got my attention was their eco-friendly products. Their bathtubs and sinks are made exclusively from WETMAR, which is their own eco-friendly natural stone composite material, and their furniture is crafted from hand-selected sustainable hardwoods. Those not in the know believe that forests once used are gone forever, but with careful usage this is not true at all. A tree is like any other crop; it can be harvested, replanted, and harvested again. Granted, the time span is considerably longer than it is for something like wheat, but with careful husbandry, trees are very much a reusable source, and Wetstyle has availed themselves of suppliers who harvest wood only from such forests.

But what most impressed me about Wetstyle’s M modular bathroom is the line itself, because there are no unnecessary curves or ornaments, just a simple expression of the glory that is walnut. They do have this line available in oak, which they have given a number of finishes, up to and including a high-gloss, lacquered finish in white or anthracite, but what most appeals to this old woodworker is the walnut in these pictures.

Wetstyle Bathroom Designs 2 Wetstyle has created a number of modular items that can be purchased separately, thereby enabling the end user to simply assemble the bathroom that best suits his needs. The vanity has simple lines with clean-faced drawers, integrated handles and a square mirror. They also have matching storage and linen cabinets which are available in a variety of dimensions. It’s a clever line, in that it can be customized to suit any space, large or small. And with all of the storage provided in this line, it is now possible to get rid of all the clutter in the bathroom! Although I guess old bald guys ought not to complain about clutter. Face it, all I really need in my bathroom is a razor and a toothbrush!

But to return to Wetstyle, I find myself much impressed with their Shaker-like simplicity of line. There is something elemental about a bathroom line that makes of itself such a glorious celebration of wood and purity of design.

I’ve always been impressed with Shaker furniture for its beauty, simplicity and the amount of skill to takes to create. And you’re right, these bathroom modules are just as beautiful. I don’t know why anyone would want it in white, wood is too good of a color, but to each their own I suppose.

The only thing is that I like clean curves. I don’t know what it is, but too many straight lines just bug me. Again, to each their own

I don’t know that curves would have necessarily worked for this particular line, just from an aesthetic standpoint. But, as you said, it’s all in what a body wants. But if curves are what does it for you, stay tuned. I have written a lot of blogs on bathroom vanities with curves and expect to do many more.
