Miele CVA 2662 Coffeemaker

“Progress”
Miele is a higher-end manufacturing company that is often on the cutting edge with their product designs, but none so much, I think, as their most recent foray into the world of coffee brewing, namely, the Miele CVA 2662 coffee maker. Actually, Miele has done quite a bit of work in this field and for good reason. In the last decade or so coffee drinking has taken on an even larger popularity, with the rise of Starbucks and coffee bars in general. Who knows, maybe the many TV scenes of Frasier and company in the Seattle coffee shop had something to do with this. Or it could just be evolution of a sort.
I know the highlight of my day for almost 34 years of marriage now has been having a cup of java in the morning with my wife. She has traveled quite a bit with her work, which has meant many early morning drives to the airport, but even then we have gotten up early just for the coffee and the conversation. And all that has ever changed through the years is that I just find myself wanting another cup and a couple more minutes to share
with her. I don’t know why I’m seeking success when I could so easily spend the rest of my life in the living room with a cup of coffee and the wife. But I digress.
I started to tell you about Miele, a company that has been on the cutting edge of coffeemakers for quite some time now. In 1999, Miele introduced the world’s first built-in Whole Bean Coffee System. Then, in 2004, Miele raised the bar and introduced the world’s first built-in capsule coffee system. More recently, they have come out with their CVA 2662, which is the subject of today’s blog.
In the pictures here we see the Miele CVA 2662 making cappuccino and espresso because there is more of an art to that process. They now have baristas who can tell at a glance whether the crema which tops the espresso is the right stuff or not. Personally, I am very much a regular coffee kind of guy, but for those who line up at Starbucks for every kind of coffee known to
man, the CVA 2662 just has to be the ticket. But the other totally cool thing about this concept is that it would serve guys like me just as well. It serves everyone and does it at the touch of a button.
In creating the capsule coffee system, Miele has teamed up with Nespresso Coffee Capsules to produce one of the damnedest concepts I think I have ever seen in a home setting. Inside the coffeemaker is an integrated capsule carousel which holds twenty individual capsules, enabling you to offer five different blends. So, people like you can have espresso, and people like me can have regular coffee. And, no doubt, there are numerous stops in between. They say that loading the carousel is as easy as operating a CD player, and making the coffee itself is even easier. They have user-friendly, touch controls with symbols and clear text to enable you to program the system for the size cups you use at home, as well as for the different beverages you prepare regularly. They even make this available in fifteen different languages and allow you to program each person’s preferences into the coffeemaker!
Finally, for those who are looking at the built-in installations in these pictures, I have to point out that Miele coffee systems are completely self-contained. They do NOT require special fixed water supply connections, which means you can easily install them virtually anywhere in your home. And if you can’t decide where you want this bad boy, Miele has created a mobile housing unit that you can simply move from room to room, or outdoors to the lanai or terrace.
Man, the wife and I were all happy when we got a coffeemaker that started the brewing automatically and now this! No wonder they say you can’t fight progress!
