I want to talk about an artist who is creating porcelain wall art tiles that are nothing short of masterpieces. Natalie Blake, who works out of her Natalie Blake Studios in Vermont has developed what she calls Unalun Tile, so named because of their undulating quality.

The thing I love about these kitchen designs from Stosa is that they evoke memories of the kitchen we all wish we’d grown up in. My family was much too poor for a kitchen as glorious as these, but these carry with them the sort of feeling I always had in our Montana home (built in the 1880s!).

Kitchen designers like Poggenpohl are using some of the methods Descartes set forth in his famous treatise, namely challenging much of what has gone before, breaking the knowledge into as many parts as possible, systematically studying these, and then looking for ways in which to do something else altogether with this knowledge.
