“Romance in a Kitchen Sink”
Well, it’s an education, this Internet, it really is. I have now posted well over 600 blogs on this site, all but three of which I wrote, and about the only thing I know for sure is that tomorrow I’m sure to learn something else. From the outside looking in, it must seem that all this work with kitchens and baths, the designing, the building, the installation of just the right appliances-all that work and fuss and feathers, well, it must get old after a while, right? Actually, that would be wrong! All that has changed for me in two plus years is that I have found it to be an ever more exciting field, and I say that even though, my webmaster partner on this site is the licensed California cabinetmaker, and my growing list of cyberspace friends are the ones who actually break out a pad and pencil and design a kitchen or bath. Me, I just write the blogs, but it is still an adventure, and I love every minute of it!
All of which brings me to the subject of today’s blog, namely Blanco Sinks. Actually, this is my third blog on this company and given the innovation with which they approach their end of the kitchen and bath world, I have every confidence that I can pretty much figure on a blog on a new Blanco product at least once a quarter for as long as this company stays around. And in view of the fact that they’ve been here since 1925, one has to believe I should have a ready source for blogs for quite a while longer yet. One of the cool things about the company, I think, is that they pioneered the use of stainless steel for kitchen sinks in 1952, a fact I bring up because that just got them started! They are still very much on the cutting edge.
One of their more recent innovations is Silgranit II sinks, which is a sink that is quickly becoming one of the more popular items in today’s kitchen remodelings. People like them for their durability and the ease with which they can be cleaned, which is something that certainly appeals to me, I’ll tell you! The material itself in Silgranit II sinks takes granite to the next level, as they say. It’s a patented formula of 80% granite and 20% acrylic resin, which actually makes it stronger than granite alone. The other slick thing about the product, I
think, is that by binding granite in resin the way they do, they make it completely non porous and scratch and stain resistant. Silgranit is heat resistant to over 536 degrees Fahrenheit, and it stands up to acid, chips, and impacts from dropped plates or pots and pans. That last feature is one you’re really going to appreciate if you’ve ever had a sink with a chip in it that you then had to live with for a few years.
Blanco has sold some forty million sinks since their inception, and given the innovation with which they have always approached their products, it’s not hard to figure out why. There is no detail that is too small for their careful attention, up to, and including, the color-make that, especially including the color.
Tim Maicher, Director of Marketing for Blanco states that, “Color is an important part of our environment, especially in the ways it’s used to remodel our kitchen.” He went on to describe Blanco’s new Biscotti color as “a toasty, indulgent, creamy look,” which he views as just right for “an enticing and romantic looking sink,” and the way he described it, it certainly is!

I was resistant to these polymer sinks for a long time, but Blanco made a believer out of me. Have you seen the Biscotti color in person? I like its subtlety.

I love the design of these sinks! Thanks for educating me on the Silgranit II material. I like a sink that has some color but I’ve always been afraid of the material burning with a hot pan. I’m going to check these out further!
