Il Pezzo Mancante has taken the same black walnut I use myself on occasion and has put it to a most glorious purpose. I’m not sure what one notices first in the picture that tops today’s blog, that juxtaposition of old and new or the wonderful table itself. With me, of course, it was the table.

The definition of a story is fundamental. It is “a piece of fiction that narrates a chain of related events,” to which definition I would add only the necessary structure of a beginning, a middle, and an end. There is a decided difference between telling a story and recounting a series of events.

We are certainly not the only ones to celebrate Valentine’s Day or to ascribe to it a certain meaning. August 14th, when we chose it, was really just a convenient Saturday to get married. Later we stumbled upon the fact that Valentine’s Day was exactly six months to the day from our wedding day.

Arca has taken this whole idea of traditional kitchen design into a different direction altogether. I like the many architectural details used throughout. Arca is also a maker of fine furniture, and seeing their output, it is not hard to figure out what has inspired such a glorious line of kitchens.
