Villeroy & Boch My Nature Bathroom Designs

“Havenly Peace”
OK, I admit to being a bit biased in this assessment, but one of the things that does a lot to bring organic into any room, but especially into a bathroom, is the introduction of wood. Not, I hasten to add a wood towel rack or mirror frame, but wood used structurally. It’s a way of evoking things that grow, trees of course, but , really, anything that is bright and growing and alive, and suddenly one’s bathroom is something else altogether.
What prompted this thought was one of my recent Internet finds, namely Villeroy & Boch, which is a company that has been around for an astounding period of time, 263 years, to be exact! What they have done with their bathroom designs is look for innovative ways of helping end users to develop for themselves the perfect bathroom, and what better way, really, then one of their more recent innovations, the My Nature bath.
It’s tempting to trot out that old line, “great minds think alike” at this juncture because one of the lines on their website is, “Close your eyes and unwind in your own personal haven.” That’s the very thing I have been insisting on for lo these many years. OK, only three, but once we launched this blog site, and I began sampling the many bathroom design innovations on the Internet I knew at once that the staid, purely functional bathroom was very much a thing of the past in anyone’s home, but especially in our own! With only a little imagination, any bathroom, regardless of size, can become just that, one’s own personal haven.
And that brings us back to what Villeroy & Boch has created with the My Nature bathroom designs. First up, for those with the room for it, must surely be the tub. Surrounded by those gently curved forms, it’s the type of concept that permits one, as they point out on their website, to “float on a sea of relaxation.” Even just entering a bathroom graced by such accoutrements must surely evoke a wondrous feeling of serenity. The wooden pedestal they created for their tub effortlessly supports it while adding depth to the delicacy of the tub itself, creating in turn, a harmonious whole of two seemingly disparate elements, disparate that is, until an artist chose to combine them.
I was also quite taken with what Villeroy & Boch did with their wash basin and vanity. In keeping with the motif of My Nature, the sink basin features a wonderful, delicate graphic that brings the outdoors in. The bowl itself also has a delightfully sensual shape to it. Some bathrooms need more storage space than others, but I would be able to easily store the few items needed for my daily toilette in the vanity that accompanies this sink. And since extra storage space would, in my case, be essentially wasted, I find myself very much liking what they have done with the negative space. The resulting openness does much to define the vanity’s space, while carrying out the theme of My Nature. To finish out the line itself Villeroy & Boch has created optional mirrors, a built-in towel holder, LED lighting beneath the vanity, a bidet, a low-flush toilet with soft close lid, and a variety of colors.
With this product line, one really can, as Villeroy & Boch exhorts us to on their website, join in “on an exciting journey of inspiration that is as lively, diverse and emotional as the brand itself.” Sometimes the peace of nature is all that’s needed to bring a bit of haven to one’s bathroom. and life!
