Outstanding Barbecue Grills 4 Well, the summer is starting to wind down now; soon it will be time to put everything away and try to find some way of getting through the winter without the solace of a grilled-to-perfection cheeseburger. But before we get to that most lamentable time, I thought I’d share another terrific outdoor kitchen I’ve come across. This one is from Denmark, although I hasten to add that OutStanding is expanding their reach and will soon be available near you, wherever you may be, if they’re not near you already! It’s what happens these days when you develop a product that is miles and miles ahead of what the competition is offering and then avail yourself of the Internet. Suddenly, any product made anywhere, if it’s made well, can be sold all over.

These people have really done their homework. This lineup of products is a combination of conventional concepts and hey-wouldn’t-it-be-nice-if-someone-thought-of-a-way-to-do-such-and-such. They have a number of barbecuing products that use gas, but my favorite has always been charcoal, although it is becoming increasingly difficult to find anything in that line these days, and especially so, if the barbecue itself has any kind of style and grace about it. Well, sir!

These babies had a wonderful style about them, but they’re also very practical. What they’ve come up with is an honest-to-goodness charcoal Exclusive outdoor kitchen, which, as I noted earlier, is also available in a gas configuration for those who just gotta have the gas. Actually, it makes perfect sense at times. I made the mistake of trying to do everything on one small charcoal barbecue for a huge party once. It took too long to do it, kept me away from my guests too long, and by the time I was finally finished with all of the barbecuing, they were done eating! Now I have both gas for the big doings and charcoal for the smaller doings. But I still prefer the charcoal! It does wonderful things for the flavor of grilled meat or fish.

Outstanding Barbecue Grills 1 These units from OutStanding really are just that. They have a huge grilling area that is almost 18″x19″, stainless steel grill grates, integrated cutting board, double stainless steel grill hood, top and bottom air controllers, integrated ash box, stainless steel sink and faucet with rotating water head, wheels on one side and a plug-in system with stainless steel pipe for the water supply. All I have is a kettle grill!

The OutStanding company itself has a very interesting history. It was founded by John Roth, who is a specialist within the field of stainless steel, but who started off as a trained plumber. What he most wanted to do was to design his own products, and seeing what he’s come up with, I can certainly see why he was so eager to get started! What I like about what they’ve done here is the style, the practicality of it, and the lower cost of it. If I had it to do over, I really would install one of those glorious outdoor kitchens with granite countertops and the like, but the yard’s built out now, and I’m no longer willing to go to the expense. What I would like to do, if I can, is find a stylish alternative that would provide the benefits of a full-fledged outdoor kitchen-without breaking the budget. Enter OutStanding. They deliver!

    Hi Joe,
Maybe most of the photos of outdoor kitchens are for marketing purposes, but what they portray is often not fully functional or ideal from a modern kitchen design perspective. Take this guy shown: if he would simply rotate his grille ninety degrees, he could face his guests more sociably.

Well, that’s the virtue of dropping a designer into the mix! Thanks for your input, Chuck.
