Toncelli is one of those marvelous kitchen design/manufacturing companies in Northern Italy, an area I have often referred to as the modern Fertile Crescent, because so much that is new and innovative seems to come from that corner of the world.

Wet’s Shadow Table is a pair of stepped sinks cut out of a rather substantial marble base, and the first thing you notice about the piece is that it really should have that sort of moniker, as opposed to simply calling it a double sink. “Piece,” as in “piece of fine art” really suits it better.

This is a desk that was designed and built by a young man named Eric Ritter, who’s been at this woodworking just since 1995, which is a surprisingly short time, given both the quality and innovation of his work.

Last week I told you about an exciting project from Craig Thibodeau in a blog entitled, “Sometimes a Great Notion.” It’s a glorious freestanding headboard that calls for a lot of marquetry work. This week I would like to tell you how Craig made it.
