I’ve written so much about contemporary design that I thought it might be fun to do a blog on the more traditional bathroom designs, but naturally, in so doing, I cannot bring myself to just write about the average bathroom, because we already have one of those, right? And, really, if all you are going to do for your own bathroom is pretty much what you already have—new shower and sink vanity, but essentially the same design—well, as I say, if that is all you are going to do, there really is no need for you to be surfing the Internet in search of bathroom design ideas.

What we most want to do is to simply do something no one else has done. It’s a tough sale at times, because what we are looking to do in bathroom design is to design rooms and pieces that have a purely functional purpose.

Much of what follows will have to be taken with a grain of salt, but in looking at this concept (I’m fumbling for an adjective, but I don’t know if it should be called bathroom concept, spa concept, or holy smokes concept), what immediately came to mind was a Taoist concept I have followed most of my life, namely taking the way of the water.
