Transparent Marble Tiles from 14 Ora Italiana

5 September 2008The two items together, though, bring an incredible harmony into this bathroom, which is a lot of what one is looking for in bathroom design. Anyone can use the plain tile we discussed at the beginning of the week, but that sort of things just keeps water way from the wallboard, whereas something like this becomes part and parcel of the design statement, to a point where one can no longer imagine the bathroom design without both elements: sink vanity and tile backsplash—and the latter has been greatly elevated above that status.

3 September 2008What I most want to do is something else. I want to write in my own way, live in my own way, design in my own way, to have and to create something that is mine and mine alone by virtue of having been designed by me. And even if, as is often the case, that part of the design that can be fairly called my own consists only of my selecting drapes and tiles and materials, and sinks and appliances created by others, I still do want, in the end, for the design to be my own. And that is why, in these blogs, I have concentrated so much of my attentions on that which is different from what I have seen before.
